Kinesiology
Our Kinesiologists work as an integral part of the rehabilitation team.
Kinesiology is the science of human movement. It focuses on how the body functions and moves. A kinesiological approach applies the latest evidenced based medicine principles to preserve and enhance human movement in all settings and populations.
Kinesiologists work with individuals to assist in regaining their optimal physical function. They work with individuals in their home, fitness facilities, rehabilitation clinics, and at the worksite. Skills offered by kinesiologist include:
Functional Capacity Evaluation
Kinesiologists evaluate an individual's ability to perform functional tasks such as strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, mobility, and positional tolerance in order to determine an individual's ability to function at home or works.
Therapeutic Exercise
Kinesiologists develop exercise programs specifically focused on assisting the injured individual to return to their pre-injury activities.
Strength and Endurance Testing
Kinesiologists examine the individual's muscular strength and endurance to formulate a training or treatment plan.
Worksite/Physical Demands Analyses
Kinesiologists analyze the physical requirements of specific activities involved in employment or life tasks.
Cardiovascular Exercises
Kinesiologists develop programs developed at increasing the cardiovascular fitness level of the individual.
Range of Motion Exercises
Kinesiologists develop programs designed to increase the flexibility of the individual.
Work Conditioning /Work Hardening
Kinesiologists develop programs focused on improving the functional abilities of the injured person and an individual's cardiovascular, flexibility, and strength to be able to return to their pre-injury activities.
Chronic Pain Management
Kinesiologists develop programs to assist those living with chronic pain to maximize function and improve their quality of life.
Body Mechanics Education
Teaching proper mechanics for lifting and exercise reduces the risk of injury or re-injury and improves effectiveness of training.
